Domaine Gayda Altre Cami Grenache Noir – Paris Bistro

IGP Pays d’Oc- Altre Cami 2020 – Domaine Gayda

Even if you don’t speak Catalan, this Altre Cami is another way of conveying an interpretation of the Roussillon terroir, in this case that of a Grenache planted on gneiss soil in the commune of Cassagnes. The cuvée is produced by Domaine Gayda, the creator of the famous Chemin de Moscou, which can be found on many bistronomic tables.

Could it be that the Anglo-Saxon origins of Gayda’s owners predispose them to appreciate rich wines? This Altre Cami, with its intense garnet-red color, gives a clear impression of opulence on the nose. Ripe black and red fruit. On the palate, this 100% Grenache Noir, produced without sulfur and aged for nine months in egg-shaped concrete vats, proves to be superbly greedy without becoming syrupy. The balance is maintained. Ripe raspberries and cherries give way to more subtle spicy and smoky notes that build as the meal progresses. This is a wine for a festive day, which should be served with a glass of wine. A grilled duck breast with honey should do the trick…
