It is not always easy to know when to open a bottle lying undisturbed in the cellar.
Some cuvées reveal themselves in their youth, while others require time and patience. Chemin de Moscou is one of those wines that tells a different story depending on the vintage and the moment it is opened.

Through this vertical tasting, we invite you to explore a selection of key vintages from the past fifteen years, offering insight into their current expression and their future drinking potential.

Vintage 2010

The evolved colour, with hints of brick, signals a wine that has reached full maturity. The nose opens with notes of noble woodland and truffle, carried by remarkable freshness. On the palate, the tannins are completely integrated and beautifully fine, giving way to flavours of cocoa, dark chocolate and tangy redcurrant. The overall impression is supple and elegant, with impressive length and striking precision.

A delicate wine, ready to drink now.

Vintage 2013

The latest-ripening vintage of the estate, 2013 was shaped by a cooler climate, which has marked its profile from its earliest stages. The colour shows gentle evolution. The nose reveals toasty notes joined by nuances of tobacco and smokiness. On the palate, freshness is clearly present, supported by a balanced tannic structure. Toasted and woody aromas alongside discreet fruit flavours.

A vintage to enjoy today with full-flavoured meat, or to keep for a further four to five years for those who appreciate more mature wines.

Vintage 2015

A radiant wine, with an intense red colour barely touched by time. The nose displays great complexity, combining red and black fruits, spice and a surprising sense of freshness for a wine of this age. The palate is harmonious and well balanced, with a slightly graphite-like finish.

Our favourite of this vertical tasting: both complete and complex.

An expressive wine, already superb and destined for graceful ageing.
Best enjoyed on its own or with delicate cuisine.

Vintage 2017

Born of a sunny, early-ripening year, this wine develops a deep, spicy nose evoking oriental notes and mild curry aromas. The palate is broad and generous, driven by fine richness and a tannic framework that is still very much present. Spices dominate, supported by fruit, creating a powerful and structured ensemble.

A wine to be kept a little longer to fully reveal its finesse.

Vintage 2020

A resolutely indulgent and vibrant wine. The refined nose leans towards crunchy red fruits – strawberry, cherry and Morello cherry. The palate is broad and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a long, smooth finish, almost evocative of candied fruit. The ageing contributes a delicate vanilla note, a hallmark of the wine’s youth.

Already a pleasure to drink, with excellent ageing potential.

Conclusion – Tasting Guidelines

The 2010 and 2013 vintages are currently expressing themselves in a more evolved manner, where time has patiently shaped the aromas. Their age is evident, yet a lively freshness remains, bringing elegance and refinement. These bottles are ready to be enjoyed now, or within the next two to three years.

With 2015, the wine appears radiant, complete and vibrant. Complexity is fully present, without ageing characteristics dominating. It can be thoroughly enjoyed today, while also promising a beautiful evolution over the next five years – and beyond.

At the other end of the decade, 2017 and 2020 embody the youth of Chemin de Moscou. Already expressive and generous, they display fine aromatic signatures, but will gain further harmony and depth with a little patience. Vintages for keeping according to mood and occasion.

Ultimately, this vertical tasting shows that there is no single answer to the question of perfect timing. According to taste, occasion and the emotion sought, several vintages of Chemin de Moscou can be opened and shared now.

Vertical tasting held on 11th December 2025 with Lucie, Cellar Master, and Vincent, Technical Director at Domaine Gayda.
