LOW PRICES: THREE RED WINES FOR $13 OR LESS
Autumn is well and truly here, with its colorful leaves and the desire to sit, perhaps, around a warm fire. The kids have been back at school for several weeks now, the days are getting shorter and, when it comes to supper, we’re bringing out the slow cooker. As for wines, reds are back in force on our tables. Here are a few suggestions that won’t hurt your wallet and will serve you well on weekdays.

Domaine Gayda T’air D’Oc, Pays d’Oc, France
Here we are in France. Domaine Gayda lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees, southwest of the beautiful medieval city of Carcassonne. This young vineyard, created in 2004 by Tim Ford, Anthony Record and Vincent Chansault, is very much of its time. Its wines are organic and environmentally friendly, with a touch of the New World about them. What an astonishing wine this Languedoc-Roussillon blend is! Composed of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, it has a ruby-red color that almost looks like cherry. The nose is very expressive, fruity but also with a light, airy quality. On the palate, it’s fresh and fruity, with spicy notes in retro-olfaction. A light wine for an aperitif, but it also goes well with pasta and tomato sauces. (13,05$)
