The story goes...

Figure Libre Freestyle is the name given to an ambitious range of wines designed to shake up conventions and break new ground for expressing the inherent style of the Languedoc and Roussillon. Figure Libre Freestyle reflects a desire to think outside the box, favouring freedom of choice in terms of blends, as it brings together grape varieties that would never have otherwise met in the same bottle.

Press and Awards

90/100 “Lifted, heady scents of oozy blueberries and black cherries open onto a dense palate, replete with brambly fruit and chewy, pillowy tannins around a core of liquorice and spice. The finish is fragrant with heather and rosemary.” Decanter (NE), November 2023
88/100 “(…) Figure Libre Freestyle Rouge offers up a jammy, dense bouquet with aromas of garrigue, pencil lead, coniferous forest, black cherries and pepper, intertwined with meaty notes. Medium to full-bodied, vinous and concentrated with structuring tannins, it reveals abundant notes of sweet spices and baked plum on the finish.” Robert Parker (YC), October 2023
17/20 “(…) So elegant and mineral and graphite-driven that if you gave this to me blind I'd guess cool-climate Cabernet Franc from a warm, south-facing vineyard. A wine that tastes like a cool, garrigue-scented breeze on a warm summer night.” Jancis Robinson (TC), May 2023

Tasting notes

Sparkling ruby with garnet highlights, this wine is seductively limpid. On the nose, the warm bouquet reveals bewitching aromas of jammy red fruit, exotic spices and sweet liquorice. Subtle notes of roasted cocoa underline the meticulous, subtle dosage of our ageing process. The dynamic attack reveals a bright vivacity, while the tannins caress the palate with an enveloping delicacy. On the mid-palate, a softness emerges, accompanied by the seductive return of ripe fruit aromas. The finish offers lingering notes of roasted cocoa beans, liquorice and a subtle hint of garrigue, to prolong the tasting on a fresh, spicy note.
